THIS weekends Birmingham International Tattoo will be postponed as a mark of respect to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Over 1,200 people were due to perform in the parade at Resorts World Arena at the NEC.

Event organisers said further information on the rescheduled date will be available as soon as possible and ticket holders should retain their tickets until further notification.

Norman Rogerson MBE, Producer of the Birmingham International Tattoo said: “It is with great sadness that we hear of the news about Her Majesty The Queen.

“Our thoughts are with the Royal Family and the Nation at this time.”

“As an event that features the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force each year, the sad news hits us particularly hard, as each year we perform in her honour and were due to celebrate her 70 years of service at the Resorts World Arena this weekend”.

“The Queen as Sovereign was Head of the Armed Forces, she was also the wife, mother and grandmother of individuals either having served or are currently serving, in the Armed Forces.”

The Queen held the position of Colonel-in-chief of regiments in the United Kingdom and throughout the Commonwealth.

She had strong links with the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom and with Commonwealth Air Forces and was a patron of Royal Star & Garter, one of the Tattoo’s chosen charities.
