Thoughtful students spread the Jubilee joy

THOUGHTFUL students at Avon Valley School have been spreading joy as part of their Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

They wrote around 800 ‘postcards of kindness’ to members of the emergency services at Rugby Fire Station, West Midlands Ambulance Service and Rugby Police station, along with NHS staff at St Cross Hospital and residents in local care homes.

On the postcards students told the recipients about the activities they were taking part in at school in to mark the Jubilee, thanked them for their service, and wished them all the best for the extended bank holiday.

Headteacher Alison Davies said: “This was a lovely activity for our students to engage with and I was touched by some of the kind and thoughtful messages that our students wrote.

“We’ve been contacted by a number of the organisations who received postcards, thanking our students. It was great to see that the postcards sent to Rugby Fire Station have been displayed on the station’s bay doors for the community to see.”
