A TREE has been planted in Caldecott Park to mark the centenary of the Rugby Rotary Club.
Mayor Carolyn Watson-Merritt planted the Judas tree – the only one of its kind in the park – along with Club President Keith Ward.
It was chosen with the help and advice of Rugby Borough Counci’s Parks Department.
Standing at around three metres tall, it is expected to grow to 30 metres over the next 40 years.
It marks 100 years of the club, which was formed in 1922 and held its first meeting at the Grand Hotel in Rugby – now the job centre in Albert Street.
This was the club’s final act to commemorate the milestone.
