Rugby Editorial 31st Aug, 2016 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

TWO men were arrested after a police chase in Rugby yesterday.

Officers were in pursuit of a car which failed to stop when flagged down shortly before 10.40am yesterday (Tuesday August 30).

The chase continued through the town towards Coventry – where the fleeing men were eventually stopped on the A4600 just off Junction Two of the M6.

Warwickshire Police say the driver, 41-year-old Thomas McSweeney from Coventry, was taken into custody on suspicion of theft from a shop, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

The second man, also 41, also arrested on suspicion of theft has since been released by police.

The police car sustained slight damage in the high-speed chase.
