VICKI Bromwich braved the shave to raise much-needed funds for Practical Action.
The personal coach from Rugby decided to support the charity following a trip to Sudan when she was a teenager in which she experienced first-hand the challenges faced by refugees displaced by war and climate change.
The 53-year-old had raised £1,000 in advance of the big shave.
Vicki said: “In my job, I help clients to become self-sufficient, and I really admire the way Practical Action creates lasting change so people can generate their own prosperity.
“I wanted to raise money for them and right now, doing something like a sponsored abseil is impossible. So my hair came off. Some of my friends are quite shocked but somehow, appearance doesn’t seem very important at the moment.”
The money will go to Practical Action’s work across the world, including projects across Sudan. Together with local communities their staff they find long-lasting solutions to the problems they face so that people can stand on their own two feet, no matter where they live.
From helping farmers in Sudan regreen the desert so they can cope with climate change, to enabling waste workers in Bangladesh get the safety equipment and health care they require to work, Practical Action helps millions of people in the developing world each year take control of their lives.
