Village near Lutterworth given facelift to help local businesses

A FACELIFT has been given to the centre of a village near Lutterworth.

Areas of Broughton Astley have been given a makeover by Harborough District Council (HDC) as part of a spruce-up to encourage visitors to stay longer and help local businesses.

Tarmac has been resurfaced at the entrance of Orchard Road car park, the appearance of the bus shelter area has been tidied up, fresh planting and seating has been installed, more visible signage has been erected, and lighting columns have been repainted.

A new noticeboard, planters and tree lighting have also been introduced, and a vacant property has been given a vinyl wrap makeover until an occupier is found.

The improvements were funded by £25,000 of government grants.

HDC deputy leader Coun Simon Galton said: “The improvements will contribute to a sense of pride of place in the community and help deliver a prosperous local economy for residents and businesses.”
