WARWICKSHIRE residents have been warned not to fall for a scam which leaves them paying for two mobile phones.
A county resident received a phone call from someone claiming to be calling from EE, offering an upgrade to his mobile phone.
He agreed the contract but when the phone later arrived he realised the contract was not with EE but another company, leaving him paying for two phones.
Despite cancelling the new contract, the bogus trader continued to take money from his account.
A spokesman for Warwickshire Trading Standards warned never to buy goods or services from cold callers, and to arrange for callers to call back via a publicly-listed telephone number to prove they are genuine.
Rogue traders can be reported to Warwickshire Trading Standards at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/tradingstandards or via the Citizens Advice Consumer Service by calling 03454 040506.
