'We will help you' - Rugby council's message to vulnerable residents

VULNERABLE residents have been assured they will be supported during their isolation period by Rugby Borough Council (RBC).

Posting on social media, a council spokesperson said: “We know that many of our residents have received stay-at-home guidance from the NHS because they are extra vulnerable to Covid-19.

“We will help you. We are working with partners to make sure you are supported through your isolation period and have everything you need.

“If you need extra reassurance get in touch with trusted neighbours or community groups.”

THE COUNCIL is also co-ordinating informal community support networks by providing regular updates on how they can support the borough-wide response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Updates will include details of how to raise problems in communities which might need more support from the council or other public agencies. Visit https://tinyurl.com/yx6rbl8k for more information.

Individuals or voluntary sector organisations who want to help can register with Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (CAVA). Visit www.wcava.org.uk/volunteering for more information.

RBS has closed shared facilities at sheltered housing schemes until further notice.

The decision affects communal lounges, kitchens, toilets and guest bedrooms.

Laundry facilities remain open, but residents must keep at least 2m or 6ft 6in from others.

THE COUNCIL’S bin crews are key workers and will be out collecting rubbish as usual.

A council spokesperson said: “Please give them a cheerful wave – through the window – if you see them!”
