Woman sought in connection with Rugby supermarket fraud

Rugby Editorial 27th Nov, 2015 Updated: 27th Oct, 2016   0

A FRAUD which occurred at a Rugby supermarket in May has prompted police to release an image of a woman they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

A woman entered a supermarket on Clifton Road on Wednesday May 27 at around 4:15pm and bought a large amount of cigarettes, paying in cash.

The woman then took back the notes she had handed to the cashier before handing them over again, repeating this a number of times.

Once the sale had been completed, the offender asked for a refund. The cashier issued the refund and the offender left the store. The money in the till was later found to be down.

Anyone who recognises the woman in the image is asked to call police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident reference number 151 of Saturday June 6 (the date the offence was reported).

?Alternatively, the public can contact independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
