A WOMAN suffered a potentially serious head injury after a lorry smashed into the back of her car on the M6 near Rugby.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the southbound carriageway of the M6 just before junction one at around 10.30am this morning (Tuesday October 11).

Two ambulance crews arrived to find the woman, 26, had suffered a head injury after a heavy-goods vehicle had rear-ended her car.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “The woman was fully immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board and her condition stabilised before she was taken by land ambulance on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further trauma care.

“The lorry driver was uninjured.”

Southbound lanes of the M6 were closed for under an hour while the emergency services attended the scene.
