CRICKETERS in Lutterworth have received a cash boost to help expand the game for youngsters and women in the town.
Harborough District Council has handed Lutterworth Cricket Club a grant worth over £13,900 for the development of a new cricket ground, based at Lutterworth College, to accommodate the continued expansion of the sport for juniors and women.
The grant comes from Section 106 funds – money provided by developers for community projects and social infrastructure in locations where development has taken place.
Town or parish councils, community or voluntary groups, charities and schools are invited to apply for the next round of funding before the deadline of October 28. Grants will be allocated by the council’s grants panel on December 20.
