LUKE Armstrong bagged a hat-trick to seal a 6-1 victory for Rugby and East Warwickshire against Bournville to move into the top three in the Midlands Premier Division.
Armstrong’s treble earned him the man of the match award while further goals from Jack Fisher, Andy Walker and James Cummins completed a dominant win.
Phil Dickinson’s goal secured a 1-1 draw for the Seconds against Sikh Union Nottingham, with Richard Major the man of the match for his defensive performance.
The Thirds struggled to find the back of the net despite a number of opportunities as they lost 4-0 to Northampton Saints. Man of the match went to Calum Mackay in defence.
A pair of goals for both man of the match David Odwell and Roman Lofthouse gave the Fourths a 4-2 win against Atherstone 2nds despite a late comeback attempt, while goals from Mat Nobes, Harry and Nick Harding gave Rugby 5ths a comfortable 3-1 win over Leicester Westleigh 2nds.
The Sixths lost 4-1 to Atherstone 3rds, with Ollie Bell man of the match, while Paul Mourant and Chris Dickinson scored to help Rugby Sevenths come back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 against Market Harborough 3rds with less than five minutes left.
The Ladies 1sts moved into the top four in the Midlands Premier after a 1-0 victory away to Nottingham side Boots. Jess Naylor was the Rugby scorer.
The Seconds earned a 4-4 draw against Northampton Saints 2nds, thanks to goals from Evie Phillips (2), Jodie Kelsall and Evie Headland. Player of the match went to Rachel Major.
Rugby Ladies Fourths went down 5-1 to Northampton Saints.
Rugby & EW Mixed team were edged out 3-2 on penalty shuffles by Khalsa Leamington to drop down into the Plate competition. Their tie had ended 3-3 after Richard Cook (2) and Tom Robson scored, with Richard Major and James Harrison converting penalties. India Green was player of the match.
