BILTON Grange began their 150th anniversary celebrations with victory in a rugby tournament hosted by the preparatory school.
The school overcame Akeley Wood School, Dragon School, Spratton Hall, The Downs Malvern, Oakham, St Hugh’s and Winchester House to win the tournament.
Bilton opened the tournament with a high-scoring game against The Downs Preparatory School, outscoring their opponents five tries to one.
However, Bilton suffered a narrow one-try defeat against Oakham School late on in their next outing before drawing with St Hugh’s School.
The results proved enough to send Bilton into the knockout stages as the host school edged out rivals Spratton Hall 1-0 in the semi-finals.
Bilton took on Oakham in the final and avenged their earlier defeat with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory as the host school showed great determination to lift the trophy.
