BILTON Grange’s under-13 rugby team took their annual fixture against Spratton Hall to a new level this year – playing on one of the most historic and iconic playing pitches in the world.
The match took place on The Close at Rugby School the pitch where the sport’s founder, William Webb Ellis, picked up the ball and ran with it some 200 years ago.
Spratton Hall were first to score before Bilton responded with seven tries in total in a hard-fought and closely contested match as Bilton came out on top by seven tries to two.
Bilton are looking forward to returning to the hallowed turf at The Close next month shortly after the likes of legendary player Mike TindallĀ have played in a legends match.
