WARWICKSHIRE County Women secured impressive victories against Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire in their latest outings.
Against Gloucestershire, county president Caroline Harris presented county badges to Sandra Dean (Whitnash), Brenda Batt (Snitterfield) and Jean Lythall (Welford).
The game took place at Welford BC and highest Winning Rink went to Gill Maund (Sherwood Park) with Lynne Fowler (Southam), Diane Harvey (Warwick Boat Club) and Wendy Holloway (Welford) who started confidently and continued the upward trend to finish with a 20-12 win.
Pat Lowe (Rugby Thornfield) with Thelma Orberson (Avenue Coventry), Sandra Dean (Whitnash) and Jenny Corn (Lillington) did not really start playing until the fifth end but then managed to keep their opponents at bay eventually winning 19-15.
Aleen Shuttleworth (Stoke) with Christine Harding (Rugby Thornfield), Vanessa Brazier (Rugby Railway) and Ros Taylor (Avenue Coventry) set off strongly and were 15-2 up at 10 ends and although their opponents were able to turn the tables for a while the home team still managed to retain a four-shot lead at the end to finish 16-12.
Janice White with Tracy Wheeler (both RLS), Celia Bellamy (Warwick Boat Club) and Joy Cooke (Sherwood Park) were in the doldrums for most of the game but two shots on the 11th end helped their cause and they went on to win 15-14.
Pat Gagg (Lillington) with Nicola Bradshaw (Rugby Thornfield), Jean Lythall (Welford) and Caroline Harris (Nuneaton) were slow to start but pulled back to hold their opponents, only losing by two shots, 17-19.
Chris Cooke (Southam) with Pam Jowers (Stratford), Brenda Batt (Snitterfield) and Liz Crowther (Lillington) lost 24-11.
That came after Warwickshire secured second place in the Middle England League with a fine six-rink victory against Oxfordshire at Southam United.
Highest Winning Rink went to Debbie Bloxham with Lynne Innes (both Stratford), Heather Tredgold (Southam) and Jenny Wickens (RLS) who were lying six-all at eight ends before six shots on the ninth and five on the 10th changed the whole perspective and they went on to win 30-8.
Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield) with Joy Cooke (Sherwood Park), Jayne Henfrey (Lillington) and Anita Cowdrill (RLS) who had their foot on the pedal from the word go ensuring a 22-8 win.
Heather Mills with Dawn Horne (both RLS), Pat Lowe (Rugby Thornfield) and Donna Kerr (Lillington) were also determined not to give any quarter and finished with a 22-0 win.
Sue Hornsby with Margaret Grosvenor, and Pippa Mace (All Lillington) and Gill Maund (Sherwood Park) started at a pace and just kept going to win 22-10.
Jenny Corn (Lillington) with Nicola Bradshaw (Rugby Thornfield), Caroline Harris (County President) and Aleen Shuttleworth (Stoke) started slowly but four shots on the fifth end gave them the momentum they needed to go on and win 21-13.
Ros Taylor with Di Medhurst (both Avenue Coventry) with Lily-Mae Adams (Sherwood Park) and Pat Moore (Three Spires) were ahead all the way and eventually finished 17-10.
