AN INTERNATIONAL adaptive boxing event due to take place in Rugby next month has been moved to a new location.

The World Adaptive Boxing Council (WABC), founded by Colin Wood from Rugby, will launch the organisation’s first International Adaptive Boxing Series.

However, the action will now take place at Harborough Leisure Centre in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

The event was originally due to be staged at Benn Hall in Rugby.

Fighters from England, Scotland, France, Italy, United States of America and Africa will compete on the show.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 30.

A couple of wheelchair boxing bouts in the bantamweight division will take place with two world champions to be crowned.

England’s Danny Higgins will fight Africa’s Tony Adebayo while Callum Sadler faces off against Italy’s Simone Dessi.

In the heavyweight division, with the world title on the line, USA’s Jody Bennett takes on France’s Herve Borgeot as one of three bouts.

England’s Mason Hindley faces France’s Laurent Nocus in another title fight.

And France’s Nassou Kit takes on Scotland’s Chris Wilson in an exhibition bout.

A virtual reality (VR) fight between Liverpool boxers Sam Formby and John Cass will also take place.

And Ronnie Harmison and Wayne Cox will face off in an amputee (below knee) bout for the world title

The WABC’s ultimate goal is for adaptive boxing to become part of the Paralympic Games.

The WABC are seeking sponsorship from businesses for the event.
