BREAKING: Rugby Town boss resigns following miserable non-league fourth tier relegation

Rugby Editorial 4th May, 2017   0

FOOTBALL: GARY Moran has resigned from his role as Rugby Town manager.

Moran tendered his resignation last night, which was accepted by the club’s board of directors.

The 34-year-old took the player-manager role in September 2016 after James Jepson’s short stay with the club ended.

However Moran couldn’t guide Rugby away from the drop zone, meaning the club were relegated to the fifth tier of the non-league pyramid.

Valley Director Neil Melvin said: “Last season was clearly a very difficult and ultimately desperately disappointing one for everyone involved with the club.

“The Board would like to place on record our thanks to Gary for taking the reigns at a particularly tricky juncture back in September and seeing the job through.

“We will now be seeking a suitable successor with the primary objective of restoring Step 4 football to Butlin Road at the earliest opportunity.”

A full statement from the club will follow.
