SWIMMER Rachel Lloyd travelled to Sheffield for the British Masters Open Water Championships and came away with a bronze medal in the 3km event.
The Rugby Swimming Club star finished third in the 3km 40-44 category at Rother Valley venue and also won gold in the 40-44 1.5km event to win a British title.
Swimmers from 25 up to 84 years of age braced the Yorkshire Water in search of medals across two days.
Despite training in a 25m pool and recently competing in a 4x25m relay in the triumphant Mercian team a few weeks ago, Lloyd was more confident in her ability in the lake in Sheffield.
Swimming in the 40-44 age group, she swam the 3km in the afternoon, and despite a very fast time of 48 mins 29 secs it was enough to claim third place.
Earlier in the morning session. Lloyd eased to a 36 second win ahead of second-placed Rebecca Hartley of Barnet to win the 1.5km race in a time of 23 minutes and 34 seconds.
