KIMBERLEY Woods has earned a place in the Great Britain squad for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games following a superb season on the water.

Woods became world champion for the first time back in September, claiming individual kayak cross and canoe team gold at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships on home waters at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.

She also took canoe silver and kayak team bronze and, after winning eight medals in total during the 2023 season, Woods is eager to claim a first medal on the Olympic stage in Paris next summer.

Woods said: “I’m really excited to be a part of Team GB again for Paris 2024. Some people don’t get to go to one Olympics so I feel very fortunate to be going to my second Games.

“It’s not just the one class this time I’ll be racing, I have two events so twice the opportunity to win a medal.

“Being World Champion and world number one has never happened to me before. I really want to build on that leading into Paris.”

Woods will be competing in the women’s kayak single (K1) and women’s kayak cross events and finished 10th in the K1 event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The four-strong GB squad comprises Woods, Mallory Franklin, Adam Burgess and Joe Clarke.
