CHRIS Harris was named Coventry Bees’ Rider of the Year at the club’s end-of-season dinner-dance on Saturday.

The Bees skipper, who led the club superbly throughout the campaign, also collected the Most Bonus Points award as further reward for his team-riding skills.

Jason Garrity was voted Riders’ Rider of the Year, and Danny King picked up the award for Most Improved Rider.

The Rider of the Year award for the Coventry Storm went to Martin Knuckey, who finished the season as captain on a terrific run of form.

Knuckey also picked up the Riders’ Rider of the Year, while Rob Shuttleworth collected the Most Bonus Points award, and Conor Dwyer was named Most Improved Rider.

Elsewhere, Storm have named Liam Carr as their first confirmed signing for the 2016 season.

Carr, who guested successfully for Storm in their final matches of this year against Eastbourne and Mildenhall, made the long journey to attend the club’s end-of-season dinner-dance and be officially introduced to supporters.

The 19-year-old Carr, who hails from Northumbria, is a Berwick asset with previous National League experience for Stoke and Buxton, and he achieved a 7.73 average with the Hitmen in 2015 on his comeback from a serious leg injury.

“Liam loves the Coventry track and he fitted in superbly with us when he guested in those final meetings of the season,” said Storm boss Laurence Rogers.

“I’m sure he’s going to improve greatly on that starting average, and it’s a tremendous start to our planning for next year.

“I’d also like to thank Liam’s parent club Berwick for their co-operation in agreeing the loan deal.”
