AN EXPERIMENTAL 25-mile time trial on Sunday morning proved a success for Rugby Racing Cycling Club with both Chris Parsons and Phil Scott tasting success.

It was the first time the club had run a Sunday race for several years and participants were met with fine, sunny weather with the occasional breeze proving beneficial for entrants.

Despite the conditions, there was a generally poor turnout with just 16 riders taking part.

Only the partnership of Scott and Parsons went on to finish under the hour mark, although most pairs clocked times which were better than they had achieved as solos.

Parsons and Scott won in a time of 58.39, with Jason Baggett and Paul Thurman finishing second in 1:02.17 and the partnership of Brian Haycock and Martin Orrill in a time of 1:04.22.
