RUGBY Welsh maintained their impressive form this season after recording a comfortable 24-0 friendly victory over Old Laurentians’ third team.
On what proved to be a wet and windy afternoon, Welsh overcame an experienced and resolute Old Laurentians side by scoring four tries to ensure the win.
Their local rivals fielded an experienced side which provided a useful test for a young Welsh pack and it was the hosts who went ahead early on after a bright start.
The Welsh backs created the opportunity for winger Anthony Reynolds to score in the corner and with the benefit of the wind they took a 10-0 lead into the break when James Buckland scored a second try.
Although Welsh were not as impressive as their last league game, they continued to defend well snd did not allow their opponents the chance to break.
The second half saw the Welsh forwards playing with more authority with Harry Turner and Ash Beecham competing well throughout.
Roche was dominant in the lineout whilst Ross Mawby and Andy Higham continued their impressive form in the back row.
To OL’s credit they never their heads drop, but the Welsh defence remained firm.
Conditions began to deteriorate further in the second half but Welsh increased their lead when Adam Bond spotted a gap down the blindside and scored a third try.
Shortly afterwards Jason Reynolds showed good strength to crash over for the final try with both scores being well converted by Angus Wilson.
