Corinne Moss caps of memorable season with another win

GREAT Britain age group star Corinne Moss finished the 2016 season on a high at the weekend after winning the Warwickshire Sprint Triathlon.

Moss impressed from start to finish at the event held in Stratford and her time of 1:00.40 was enough to secure top spot in the female category, with Stratford’s Emma Bexson finishing second in 1:03.58.

It was the perfect ending to a great season which has seen Moss, who grew up in Rugby and now lives near Southam, representing Great Britain in the Standard (Olympic) distance at both the European Triathlon Championships in Lisbon and the World Championships in Cozumel, Mexico.

Having brought home silver from the Europeans, the World’s proved a more challenging affair for the 41-year-old, with the extreme conditions leaving many, including Olympic silver medallist Jonny Brownlee, overcome by heat exhaustion.

Despite the challenging conditions and a couple of mechanical issues, Moss finished in the top third in her race.

With the support of The Cycle Studio in Stratford, Shires Physiotherapy in Warwick and KPM Consulting, Moss has finished first lady in four of her races and first in her category at her last two races in the UK.

“This year has been incredible,” said Moss. “With it being my first full year of proper training, I really had no idea what was achievable.

“I have been so lucky to have had great support from family, friends, sponsors and my coach and they are the people who have made all this possible.

“My husband set me a list of challenges to do before I turned 40 and my first event was at Raggley Hall last year.

“It may have taken me 40 years, but I’ve found a sport that I truly love and I can’t believe how far it’s taken me.”

Moss will now be taking a deserved rest before preparing for next season where she has already pre-qualified for the European Championships and she also has her eyes set on the World Championships again.
