CYCLING: CRAIG McKee picked up where he left off last season by winning Rugby Cycling Club’s Open Time Trial event at the K11/10T course in Thurlaston.

A field of 49 riders took part in the event on what was a cold Thursday evening with strong winds taking its toll on all riders, but the later numbers had the better of the conditions.

A road closure on the A4071 due to an accident earlier in the day caused massive traffic jams on the A45, but fortunately this cleared just before the event was due to start.

McKee set the fastest time starting at number 15 and finished in a time of 21 minutes and 37 second, while Richard Bray was runner-up in 22.13 and Eliot Blundell (22.30) was third.
