WARWICKSHIRE Women played out a thrilling draw with Hampshire in the club’s first-ever competitive game.
Both teams managed 208 all out from their 50 overs in the One-Day Cup fixture at Edgbaston.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat as the Bears made early inroads.
Emily Arlott (2-30) claimed the club’s first-ever wicket as she bowled Maia Bouchier (4) in the fifth over.
And Chloe Brewer (3-40) then accounted for Hampshire’s other opener Ella McCaughan (14).
However, Hampshire’s middle order increased the run rate as Rhianna Southby (72) top scored.
And Abi Norgrove (28) also chipped in with useful runs as the pair put on 62 runs for Hampshire’s fifth wicket.
Brewer eventually accounted for Southby while captain Georgia Davis (2-38) and Hannah Baker (1-31) also claimed wickets.
The Bears bowled out Hampshire for 208 in 48.3 overs.
Warwickshre made a strong start with the bat in reply as Sterre Kalis (18) and Abbey Freeborn (70) put on 35 runs for the opening wicket.
And useful knocks from Davina Perrin (17), Nat Wraith (14) and Brewer (12) saw the Bears reach 156-7.
The Bears lower order showed plenty of fight as all four of Warwickshire’s final batters reached double figures.
And Warwickshire needed just one run from the final ball to clinch victory.
However, Norgrove ran out Davis (13) with an accurate throw to ensure the game ended in a thrilling draw.
