CRICKET - Bourton and Frankton beaten in penultimate match of season

BOURTON and Frankton CC suffered a six-wicket friendly defeat in their penultimate game of the season away at Marton.

Having taken to the crease first, the visitors were bowled out for 137 as opener Dale Coles (44), George Smith (32) and Mark Whitehead (29 not out) scored the majority of the runs.

And Premakumar Thurairajah (5-17) inflicted most of the damage to Bourton’s innings after Alan Evans (2-32) took a pair of early wickets.

In reply, Marton’s charge with the bat was led by Rubans Sugartharubans (retired 53 not out) before Jay Singh (30 not out) helped the hosts reach the required target with 10 overs to spare as they finished on 142-4.




Mick Waller (2-35) was the pick of the Bourton bowlers whilst Nigel Kidd (1-22) and Pat McManus (1-32) claimed a wicket apiece.
