BOURTON and Frankton CC returned to winning ways with an eight-wicket friendly victory against Oakfield and Rowland United.
In the club’s first away fixture since their Suffolk tour in June, the visitors looked set to be chasing a 200-plus total as O and R’s openers Liam Denipitiya and Chris Goodwin both made half centuries.
However, after their dismissals for 51 and 50 respectively, only Jonny Shuttleworth made it into double figures for the hosts as Bourton struck back with the ball.
Mick Waller came away with figures of 4-13 with Richard Parsons taking 2-27 and Stuart McQuillan returning to mop the tail with 2-33 as Oakfield and Rowland were bowled out for 142.
Bourton’s reply saw Dale Coles and Parsons lead the way, Coles top scoring with 60 and Parsons falling three short of a half-century.
An unbeaten 25 from George Smith, against his Saturday club, eased Bourton to their target in just over 25 overs with no further wickets falling.
Bourton are next in action against Willoughby CC on Sunday, August 21 with the friendly set to begin at 1pm.
