CRICKET - Bourton and Frankton ease to seven-wicket win against Bishops Tachbrook

BOURTON and Frankton CC romped to a comfortable seven-wicket friendly win against Bishops Tachbrook thanks to an unbeaten knock of 86 from George Smith at The Field.

Bourton fielded first and made a superb start with the ball as Pat McManus took three quick wickets to leave the visitors in a perilous position on 8-3.

However, Tachbrook dug in to recover well from their poor start as M Duckett made 31 and Mark Hipkins 41 to post a competitive 153 all out.

McManus (3-5) was the pick of the Bourton bowlers with Stuart McQuillan (2-18), Michael Waller (2-23), Dale Coles (1-25) and Nigel Kidd (1-33) all amongst the wickets.

In reply, Rich Parsons and Coles made a steady start before the latter was dismissed for 16 which brought Smith to the crease.

Coles departed for 27 but Smith remained in the middle for the duration of Bourton’s innings as he made 86 from just 45 balls which included 18 boundaries.

And Bourton reached the required total in just 22.4 overs to finish on 154-3 with a fixture against Braunston Paddox next up for Bourton this weekend.
