CRICKET - Bourton and Frankton fall to defeat against Everdon

BOURTON and Frankton CC slipped to a 42-run defeat in a friendly against Everdon despite a battling century from George Smith.

Everdon made 224-7 in a game reduced to 35-overs per side as Tom Pope (103 retired not out) hit a century for the visitors at The Field.

Mick Waller (4-32) was the pick of the home side’s bowlers as Bourton prepared to chase down a difficult total.

Smith led Bourton’s chase with an impressive 112 not out that saw him hit 16 boundaries and, despite support from Daniel McManus (26), the hosts middle and lower order fell cheaply without reaching double figures.

And four of the last seven batters were dismissed for ducks to leave Bourton on 182-9, some 42 runs short of the required total.
