BOURTON and Frankton Cricket Club head into their last two fixtures of the season off the back of successive away wins.

As Bourton’s campaign draws to a close, the club earned two victories on the road following a summer of mixed results in a host of friendly matches.

Bourton’s George Smith scored a superb century in his side’s victory at Yelvertoft.

Yelvertoft finished on 225-9 at the end of their innings as Stuart McQuillan (4-41) and Jacob Crinigan (3-36) starred with the ball for Bourton.

In reply, a 66-run first-wicket stand between Dale Coles (26) and Hector Legge (63 not out) set Bourton on their way to victory.

The wicket of Coles brought Smith (104 not out) to the crease as the pair put on an unbroken stand of 162 to help Bourton to a nine-wicket win from just over 10 overs to spare.

Smith’s century came from just 71 balls and included 15 boundaries while Legge scored a fine half-century.

And Bourton also beat Willoughby on the road in another high-scoring encounter.

The visitors batted first and scored 258-8 from their 40 overs as Rahul Ram (93) fell agonisingly short of a century while Mark Whitehead (58) hit a half-century.

In reply, Willoughby just came up short as the home side finished on 242-9 as Mick Waller (4-51) helped Bourton to a 16-run win.

Bourton and Frankton are next in action against Marton Village on Sunday, September 1 with the game to begin at 1pm at Dunchurch and Bilton CC.
