BOURTON and Frankton CC suffered a disappointing 123-run friendly defeat against Stoneleigh as their mixed season continued at The Field.

Stoneleigh impressed with the bat to score 278-5 from their 40 overs as Muhammad Tariq Khan (92) played a fine innings with support from Shubham Jain (54) and Neil Carter (42).

Nigel Kidd (2-63), James Playdon (1-38), Stuart McQuillan (1-55) and Mark Whitehead (1-61) took the wickets.

However, the home side were bowled out for just 155 in 36.5 overs with Michael Waller (35) top scoring whilst Dale Coles (27), Whitehead (27), Playdon (26) and Pat McManus (23) all made useful contributions to no avail.

That came after securing a massive 233-run in their previous friendly fixture against Rugby at the end of last month.

Openers Coles (101) and Daniel McManus (120) hit superb centuries as both retired not out with the former scoring 17 boundaries and the latter finding the rope on 19 occasions, putting on 189 runs for the first wicket.

And George Smith (30) and P McManus (32) were the other Bourton batters to reach double figures as the home side closed on a remarkable 313-6 from their 40 overs.

The hosts then skittled Rugby for a measly 80 all out as Kidd (4-16) and P McManus (4-42) starred with the ball whilst McQuillan (2-19) took the other wickets.

Bourton are next in action on Sunday, August 14 against Oakfield and Rowland United with the game set to start at 1pm.
