THERE were two podiums for Rugby Junior Triathlon Club at the first open water triathlon at Sandwell Valley Country Park.
Tom Tyler (25:51) finished just 14 seconds behind the leader to take second in the 13-14 boys category, while Jake Louis (34:27) took third in the youth category.
Meanwhile, in the 11-12 girls category, Scarlett Sanders finished ninth, Georgia Stiles came home in 14th and Emily Hayward in 17th.
The Sandwell Valley Country park course is a great leap into the more technical areas of the sport, demanding great confidence and effort from the athletes who gained a lot of experience from the day.
It is also part of the West Midlands Race Series in which Tyler, Louis and Ben Leugs are competing in to gain points for a chance to represent the region in the Inter-Regional Championships at Mallory Park in September.
