HOCKEY: EMMA Allan rescued a point for Rugby & East Warwickshire ladies after they drew 1-1 at home to Stratford.
Allan’s fantastic strike earned Rugby a share of the spoils but the hosts will know there is plenty of room for improvement in their next match against Telford & Wreakin.
Rugby’s second team were quick out of the blocks as they ran out 3-2 winners over Coventry & North Warwickshire.
Emma Allroggen opening the scoring with a cracking strike from a penalty corner which sailed straight into the bottom corner of the goal.
Lou-Lou showed her skill and scored the second from a pass from Hannah Allroggen and Ellen scored Rugby’s third goal with a neat deflection onto the right-hand post.
Coventry pulled one goal back before half-time following a scuffle in front of goal and the deficit was cut to just one to set up a tense finale to the second period.
But Rugby worked exceptionally hard and ran out deserved winners to claim all three points.
There was joy also for the third team who created lots of chances in what was a comfortable 3-0 victory over Sutton Coldfield.
