A DOMINANT showing from Rugby & East Warwickshire’s first team guided them to a 5-1 victory over Bridgnorth in Midlands Division One.

Adam Hewitt and Andy Walker both struck twice, as did Tom Robson – albeit one being an own goal – in a confident display that keeps Rugby a point behind the leaders University of Nottingham 2nds.

A 3-3 thriller in Division Two between the men’s second string and Khalsa Leamington 2nds featured an inspired display by REWHC goalkeeper Connor Robson, who kept the visitors at bay.

James Cummins was twice on target, while Archie Houghton scored the other goal for the hosts. Rugby went down 9-0 to Nottingham Trent University in East Midlands Premier, with the students regularly peppering successful attempts at goal from penalty corners.

A Chris Harding hat-trick and goals from David Odwell and David Manning earned the fourth XI a 5-4 victory against Khalsa Leamington 5ths in South East Division One.

Alex Watkins, Charlie Morrison, Ben Stuchbury and Gilo Morrison helped the fifth string edge Ashby 3rds in Division Two, with the sixth XI going top as a result of their 3-1 victory against Atherstone 3rds.

Meanwhile, in Division One of the Warwickshire Women’s Hockey League, Rugby’s second XI beat Warwick University 3-1 in a hard-fought encounter.
