Fitzgerald and Clarke become Adams' first summer signings

RUGBY Town boss Carl Adams has made Kieran Fitzgerald and Jamal Clarke his first signings of the summer, whilst a host of last season’s squad have agreed new deals.

Fitzgerald, a striker, moves from Daventry Town having notched 17 goals in 44 games last term – including two in the penultimate game against Rugby, and was a key part of the UCL Premier Division winning side.

The 22-year old scored 36 times for the Purple Army, and will add strength to Valley’s forward line.

Meanwhile, defender Clarke adds a wealth of experience to the ranks after signing from Coventry United, having previously turned out for Evesham United, Redditch United, AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Daventry Town.

Eli Bako, Liam Francis, Harry Holloway, Daniel Kavanagh and Sam Lockley are the latest to stay on at Butlin Road for the 2019/20 season.

It means Holloway extends his stay for a fifth season, and is Rugby’s longest-serving player, while Francis, Bako and Kavanagh enter into their second campaign with the club.

Lockley returns to the club following loan spells at Long Buckby and Coventry United, where he gained crucial minutes on his comeback from a leg break suffered in March 2018.
