Five-star Ladies in form to overpower Ashby

Rugby Editorial 16th Nov, 2021   0

PLAYER of the match Evie Phillips and Nicki Siarbawa both scored twice to help Rugby & East Warwickshire Ladies 1sts power to a 5-2 victory against Ashby 1sts in the Midlands Premier Division.

Jen Law added to the tally.

Regan Walker’s two goals fired Rugby & EW Seconds to a 4-0 success against Market Harborough 1sts. Walker was also named player of the match, with an early goal from Jodie Kelsall setting them on their way.

The Ladies 3rds held on for a 3-3 draw against an aggressive Long Buckby side, while goals from Annie and Melis Baysal earned the Fourths a 2-1 win against Northampton Saints 5ths.

Luke Armstrong’s goal settled a 1-0 verdict for Rugby & EW Men’s Firsts against Northampton Saints in a tight Midlands Premier fixture. Man of the match went to Danny Bell in goal with the clean sheet.

George Spraget was the Seconds’ man of the match in a tough 10-0 loss to Loughborough Town while Henry Woodwards took the award for the Thirds in a 5-0 loss to Beeston 3rds in a game where the scoreline did not reflect the effort put in.

An early goal from Kiran Clark was not enough to see Rugby stay ahead of Stratford in a hotly-contested 1-1 draw.

Two goals from man of the match Richard Hardy helped the Fifths to a 3-1 success against Wellingborough 1sts while the Sixths lost 5-0 to Warwick University 5ths. Rugby fought hard against the workrate of the students as man of the match went to Samay Patel.
