RUGBY Borough began the New Year with a hard fought 1-0 win against Burton Park Wanderers.
Halim Halim scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot after Adam Shaw was fouled on the stroke of half time at Kilsby Lane.
The result means Borough sit second in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One table with two games in hand on runaway leaders Real Bedford.
Borough have now won their last four matches in the league after beating Lutterworth Athletic 4-1 in their final game of 2022.
Prior to that Borough thrashed Buckingham Athletic 7-1 in their final fixture before Christmas and claimed an 8-1 home win against Holmer Green three days earlier.
Rugby are next in action away at Winslow United on Saturday, January 7 with kick-off at 3pm at Elmfields Gate.
