FOOTBALL - Bourton and Frankton put six past Whitnash Reserves

BOURTON and Frankton secured back-to-back wins in the Coventry Alliance Football League with a 6-1 thrashing of Whitnash Town Reserves.

However, despite cruising to victory, Bourton trailed early on having also fallen behind in last weekend’s 3-2 win against Balsall and Berkswell.

Bourton responded almost immediately when Daniel McManus equalised from Stuart McQuillan’s through ball.

The home side completed a quick turnaround when Ed Spencer finished from a corner after Dale Coles flicked on a corner.

And Bourton soon had their third goal when McQuillan slotted home between the goalkeeper’s legs from Spencer’s assist to put the home side in command.

Bourton extended their lead in bizarre fashion on 55 minutes when James Burke scored a free-kick from close to the halfway line after the visiting goalkeeper spilled the ball into his own net.

And further goals from substitutes James Fewz and Alistair Hawkins added some gloss to the scoreline.

Elsewhere, the club’s under-14’s side were thrashed 5-1 by Ambleside Sports in the Coventry and Warwickshire Youth League.

Bourton’s new youth team made a disappointing start to the campaign as Ambleside ran away with the game in the second half following a goalless first period.

Bourton and Frankton are next in action away at Fillongley on Saturday, October 1 in the first round of the Coventry Telegraph Junior Cup with kick-off at 2.15pm at Fillongley Recreation Ground.
