BOURTON and Frankton slipped to their first home league defeat of the season after losing 4-3 to RS Sports Reserves in a thriller.

After trailing by three goals at the break, Bourton’s Stuart McQuillan struck twice and substitute Bradley Whitehead scored a rebound from a penalty to complete a remarkable comeback.

However, the visitors won the match late on to inflict a first home league defeat of the season on Bourton at The Field.

The result means Bourton sit sixth in the Coventry Alliance Division Three table.

A poor first-half showing from Bourton allowed RS Sports to take a three-goal lead at the break as the visitors capitalised on a number of mistakes.

However, McQuillan reduced the deficit early in the second half after being played through on goal before Whitehead scored on the rebound after seeing his penalty kick saved.

Bourton drew level as the half wore on as McQuillan scored his second of the game after linking up nicely with Edward Spencer.

However, in a cruel late twise, RS Sports snatched the points with a goal from a long ball as Bouron suffered back-to-back defeats in all competitions for the first time this season.

Bourton are next in action at home to league leaders Sporting Coventry on Saturday, October 28 with kick-off at 2.15pm at The Field.

Elsewhere, the club’s under-15 side also suffered defeat after losing 5-1 at Bedworth United, conceding four second-half goals.

Vlad Marculescu’s goal on 15 minutes sent Bourton into the break on level terms only for Bedworth to run away with the game in the second period.
