BOURTON and Frankton made a winning start to the 2023/24 season with a 4-2 away win at Coventry Colliery Reserves.

Kyle Young opened the scoring inside the first minute before Daniel McManus scored twice either side of Stuart McQuillan’s fine strike at Hawkes Mill Sports Club.

The result means Bourton sit second in the Coventry Alliance Three division after one fixture.

And Bourton made a dream start when Young slotted home into the bottom right corner after good work from Ronald Costa.

The visitors doubled their lead soon after as McManus found the net with Costa providing his second assist of the game.

Coventry reduced the deficit shortly after half-time only for McQuillan to restore Bourton’s two-goal lead with an audacious effort from close to the corner flag after spotting the goalkeeper off his line.

And McManus put the game to bed with his second of the game, sending a delightful lob over the keeper from Thomas Udall’s through ball.

The home side scored a consolation goal with 15 minutes left to play but it proved too little too late as Bourton recorded an impressive opening day victory.

Bourton are next in action at home to Shilton Reserves on Saturday, September 9 with kick-off at 2.15pm at The Field.
