BOURTON and Frankton suffered a 4-2 defeat against Dunlop Reserves in the first round of the Major Boyd Carpenter Cup.
Dunlop raced into a three-goal lead at the break before sealing victory in the second half with Carl Williams and George Smith twice reducing the deficit for Bourton at The Field.
Despite making a bright start, the home side fell behind against the run of play before two quickfire goals all but ended the game as a contest before the interval.
Bourton improved after the break as Carl Williams gave the home side hope with a dipping effort from distance.
However, Dunlop restored their three-goal lead from the penalty spot before Smith headed home a consolation for Bourton from Joe Pruden’s free-kick.
Bourton are next in action away at Triumph Athletic on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Triumph Sports Ground.
