CAINE Elliott scored a dramatic extra-time winner to send Rugby Town into the next round of the FA Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Grantham Town in a replay.
The winning goal came in the 104th minute as Elliott’s low strike from the edge of the penalty area squirmed past Grantham goalkeeper Dan Haystead at Butlin Road.
And Valley will travel to Southern League Premier Division Central side Basford United in Second Round Qualifying on Saturday, September 17.
The two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw last weekend as Rugby came from two goals down to take the lead only for 10-man Grantham to send the tie to a replay in injury time.
Rugby are next in action away at Wellingborough Town on Saturday, September 10 with kick-off at 3pm at London Road.
