RUGBY Town moved out of the relegation zone after thrashing Walsall Wood 4-0 to claim their biggest league win of the season.
Liam Francis opened the scoring before two Loyiso Recci penalties and a late goal from Silvano Obeng secured an emphatic victory at Butlin Road.
Valley go into the final day of the Northern Premier League Midlands season outside of the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
That means Rugby must match Rushden’s result to secure their league status with Valley currently two goals clear of the Diamonds.
Valley broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when Francis headed home after Walsall goalkeeper Dale Eve dropped Chris Clements’ corner.
And Recci doubled Rugby’s lead from the penalty spot on 25 minutes after Mikey Taylor drew a foul in the box.
Rugby made sure of the points seven minutes from time as Recci converted his second penalty of the game after a foul on Ryan Sahota in the area.
And Valley completed the scoring three minutes later when Obeng pounced to turn home a loose ball after Eve could only parry Sahota’s initial effort.
Rugby finish the season away at Boldmere St Michaels on Saturday, April 27 with kick-off at 3pm at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground.
