GRANT Joshua has urged Rugby Town supporters to ‘not give up’ on his players with the club four points from safety in the relegation zone.
Valley saw their winless run stretch to seven matches following a 3-0 home defeat against AFC Rushden and Diamonds at Butlin Road last weekend.
An early goal from Joel Nketia put Rushden ahead before Tyler Winters struck either side of half time to inflict another defeat on Valley.
And to compound the home side’s misery, Kobi Bivens saw an injury-time penalty saved to leave Rugby in relegation trouble.
However, despite the club’s struggles on the pitch, Joshua recognised the faith shown by the club’s supporters through the side’s recent adversity.
Joshua said: “I have nothing but admiration for the way they [the supporters] have been.
“They really haven’t had it easy over the past few seasons, but they find a way to dig deep and they are still as loud as they have ever been.
“I used to hate managing against Rugby because I knew those boards would start banging and the momentum in the ground would shift.
“You’ve stuck with these lads all season, so please don’t give up on them now when they really need that 12th man.”
Rugby host Long Eaton United on Saturday, March 14 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
