DAVID Kolodynski scored an injury time winner to send Rugby Town through to the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-1 victory against Malvern Town in a replay.

Kolodynski struck five minutes into time added on with virtually the last kick of the game after Jordan Wilson’s penalty had opened the scoring at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

And Rugby’s reward is a home game against Newcastle Town in the preliminary round on Saturday, August 19.

Valley took the lead on 38 minutes after Kolodynski went to ground under a challenge from Malvern goalkeeper Keiron Blackburn in the box and Wilson stepped up to score the resulting penalty.

However, Malvern levelled through a spot kick of their own on 40 minutes as Matt Turner fired home to send the teams in level at the break.

And after several chances came and went at both ends, Kolodynski finished at the back to break Malvern hearts after Wilson flicked Luke English’s long throw into the striker’s path.

Rugby begin their league campaign with a home game against Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, August 12 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
