A LATE brace from Trey Charles helped Rugby Town to a 4-1 win against Aylestone Park in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Charles struck twice in the last 10 minutes after Hilton Arthur and Tayo Alexander-Tucker netted either side of the break at Butlin Road.
United Counties League Premier Division South side Aylestone dominated possession in the first half but failed to carve out a clear-cut chance.
And Rugby opened the scoring two minutes before the interval when Athur found the net from Ryan Sahota’s through ball when one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
Valley made seven changes at the break as the visitors drew level just past the hour mark as full-back Matt Dawson squared the ball to Sam Hollis who applied the easiest of finishes.
However, Carl Adams’ side reclaimed the lead five minutes later when substitute
After a slow first half which saw Aylestone Park dominate possession Rugby took the lead just before the break and then after a raft of changes in the second half, Valley scored some fine goals to secure the win.
However, Carl Adams’ side reclaimed the lead five minutes later when substitute Alexander-Tucker produced an excellent finish off the underside of the crossbar from Charles’s pass.
And Charles settled the game with two goals in the space of four minutes late on as he curled a sublime effort into the top corner before then blasting a shot high into the goal from the edge of the penalty area.
Rugby finish their pre-season campaign against North Leigh on Saturday, July 27 with kick-off at 3pm at Butlin Road.
