RUGBY Borough reached the semi-finals of the United Counties League (UCL) Cup following a penalty shootout victory against Bourne Town.
Borough looked on course to reach the last four in regulation time courtesy of Thabang Dube’s goal at Kilsby Lane.
However, Brad Marshall levelled the game for Bourne deep into injury time to send the game to a shootout.
Rugby eventually triumphed 5-3 on penalties to book their place in the semi-finals.
Opponents Bourne currently sit second in the United Counties League Premier Division North table with Borough third in the UCL Premier Division South standings.
Borough broke the deadlock on the quarter-hour mark when Dube found the net.
However, with the home side just seconds away from a semi-final berth, Marshall struck for the visitors to take the game to penalties.
Borough scored all five of their spot kicks with Bourne unable to convert their third attempt as the home side sealed their place in the last four.
Rugby host March Town United on Saturday, March 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Kilsby Lane.
