FOOTBALL - Rugby Borough extend win streak to 15 after narrow Northfield victory

RYAN Palmer’s goal proved decisive as Rugby Borough extended their perfect start to the season with a 15th straight win against Northfield Emerald.

Palmer struck against the run of play in the first-half when he swept Tommy Glasscoe’s cross into the top corner to maintain Borough’s winning run.

The result means Rugby are seven points clear at the top of the Leicestershire Senior League Premier Division table having won all 15 of their league matches this season.

Elsewhere, Borough’s youth team secured a 4-0 win against Stafford Rangers in the League Cup to book their place in the next round.

However, Rugby’s reserves were unable to advance in the City Goldsmiths Presidents Trophy after they suffered a 4-2 defeat away at Blaby with Sean Creer-Thornton and Bashi Abduwali on target for Borough.

Rugby return to action away at Ashby Ivanhoe on Saturday, December 7 with kick-off at 2pm at NFU Sports Ground.
