RUGBY Borough Women were thrashed 9-2 by league leaders Solihull Sporting Ladies after conceding seven goals in the first half.

Despite keeping the game scoreless for the opening 20 minutes, Rugby shipped seven goals in the remainder of the half.

However, Borough battled back to draw the second half with Michelle Oldfield converting a penalty won by Chloe Skipworth before Tammi Davies scored a free kick from the edge of the box whilst Chloe Maxwell hit the bar.

The result means Borough sit sixth in the West Midlands Regional Women’s Football League Division One South table with 21 points from 17 matches.

Rugby are next in action at home to Leamington Lions Ladies on Sunday, March 27 in the quarter-finals of the League Cup with kick-off at 2pm at Kilsby Lane.
