RUGBY Borough lost further ground on league leaders St Neots Town after playing out a 1-1 draw away at Easington Sports.

Borough took the lead courtesy of Max Proudlock’s header only for Ollie Rose’s deflected shot to draw the home side level at Addison Road.

The result means Rugby sit third in the United Counties League Premier Division South table, nine points behind St Neots with a game in-hand.

Borough had captain Oran Jackson available again after the club successfully appealed the red card he received against Aylestone Park in their last outing.

Rugby opened the scoring shortly before half time when Proudlock headed in Matt Dawson’s deft cross.

However, Easington equalised moments later as Rose’s shot took a big deflection which left Borough goalkeeper John Meadows with no chance.

Rugby are next in action against Bugbrooke St. Michaels on Saturday, February 8 with kick-off at 2pm at Kilsby Lane.
